MCS Group Showcases Strength in Execution of UNWTO Conference

2 min read

The strength of the MCS Group, the non-financial arm of The Jamaica National Group, was recently on show at the Global Conference on Jobs and Inclusive Growth: Partnerships for Sustainable Development, in Montego Bay, St James from November 27-29.

Approximately 1,500 delegates from some 60 countries descended on the North Coast for the largest conference of the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s largest conference outside of its Annual Conference. The conference was held jointly with the Government of Jamaica and in partnership with the World Bank Group, Inter-American Development Bank and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), with major sponsorship from Airbnb, AM Resorts, Chukka Cove, and Sandals.

The MCS Group led by managing director, Onika Miller, won a contract earlier this year to undertake management of the logistics for the international conference.

Speaking at a press conference to update the public on the success of the initiative recently, Minister of Tourism, Hn Edmund Bartlett, congratulated the JN Group for its leadership in managing the logistics and communication for the conference. He concluded that he looks forward to further opportunities for public/ private partnership with The Jamaica National

Earlier this year, Earl Jarrett, Chief Executive Officer of JN Group had indicated that the company decided to undertake project because JN is vested in the development of Jamaica.

“The JN Group comprises 30 companies, one of which is the MCS Group, and our team of professionals has the experience, knowledge and skills to deliver a successful conference.  We are proud to have been selected by the Ministry and are confident that our team will be equal to the task,” he said.

Ms Miller, noted, “Strong partnerships such as this can help our nation to meet growth targets and national development goals”.
