About JN ACT!ON

    The JN Group continues to be a corporate advocate, championing impactful social, environmental, and governance initiatives. JN ACTION is a volunteering platform that provides several volunteering opportunities for employees to get involved in volunteering. Employees will be presented with volunteering opportunities under three tracks; Mentoring, Care Program, and Eco Champ.

    Mentorship

    In this volunteering track, employees will engage JN Scholars, through several motivational activities and engagement sessions to motivate and advise them on navigating the various spheres of their lives.

    Care Program

    In this volunteering track, groups of employees will forge long-lasting relationships with Mustard Seed Communities- apostolates, to support them in meeting their operational needs.

    Eco Champs

    In this volunteering track, employees will have the opportunity to execute activities that will help the environment or advocate for behavior change that will make a positive impact on the environment. Opportunities will be presented for employees to support activities, such as recycling, reusing, and reducing waste.

    Ornamental Trees

    Murraya: A small, evergreen tree or shrub with glossy green leaves and fragrant white flowers. It is commonly used as a hedge, screen, or ornamental plant in tropical and subtropical regions. Murraya thrives in well-drained, loamy soil and prefers full sun to partial shade. It is native to southern China, Southeast Asia, and Australia.

    Duranta Purple: A tropical shrub with stunning purple-blue flowers and bright yellow berries. It is often used as a hedge, border, or accent plant in gardens and landscapes. Duranta Purple prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It is native to the Americas and has been cultivated in gardens since the 17th century.

    Neem: A large evergreen tree with a wide spreading crown and delicate white flowers. It is prized for its medicinal and insecticidal properties and is commonly used in traditional medicine and organic gardening. Neem prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It is native to the Indian subcontinent and has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine.

    Washingtonia Palm:  A tall, slender palm tree with fan-shaped leaves and a distinctive, textured trunk. It is commonly used in landscaping and as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks. Washingtonia palm prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It is native to the southwestern United States and Mexico.

    Christmas palm: A small, ornamental palm tree with feathery leaves and bright red berries. It is commonly used in landscaping and as an accent plant in gardens and patios. Christmas palm prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It is native to the Philippines and is often called the Manila palm.

    Cassia fistula: Also known as the golden shower tree, is a large, deciduous tree with long, pendulous clusters of yellow flowers. It is commonly used as an ornamental tree in parks and gardens and is prized for its showy blooms. Cassia fistula prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It is native to Southeast Asia and has been cultivated for centuries in India and other parts of Asia.

    Fruit Trees

    Java Plum: Also known as Jamun, is a tropical fruit tree with small, purple-black berries. It is commonly eaten fresh or used in desserts and drinks. Java Plum prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It is native to Southeast Asia and is a popular fruit in India, Pakistan, and other parts of Asia.

    June Plum: A small, tropical fruit tree with tart, green fruit that can be eaten fresh or used in cooking. It is commonly used in Jamaican cuisine and is also a popular ornamental plant in gardens and landscapes. June Plum prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It is native to the Caribbean and Central and South America.

    Guava: A tropical fruit tree with sweet, fragrant fruit that can be eaten fresh or used in desserts, jams, and jellies. It is commonly grown in home gardens and small orchards and is prized for its high vitamin C content. Guava prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It is native to Central and South America and is now grown in tropical and subtropical regions around the world.

    Apple (Otaheite): Also known as Jamaican apple or Malay apple, is a tropical fruit tree with vibrant red or purple fruit that resembles an apple. Despite its name, it is not related to the traditional apple tree. Otaheite apples are typically eaten fresh and have a crisp, juicy texture with a mildly sweet flavour. Otaheite apple trees thrive in well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. A loamy soil with good water retention and adequate drainage is ideal for their growth. The Otaheite apple has a fascinating history. It is believed to have originated in Southeast Asia and was introduced to the Caribbean during the colonial era.
