Students at Allman Town Primary School, who have been the beneficiaries of JN Fund Managers’ (JNFM) corporate social responsibility since the beginning of 2017, received a special Christmas treat from the staff members of the investment company, last week.
Latoya Nesbitt, acting principal of the school, welcomed the gifts of resources and time from the money management firm, during the Christmas celebrations, which took place at the school on December 18.
“I am pleased that JN Fund Managers has brought cheer to our students,” Ms. Nesbitt stated, noting that, “The message they brought, about the meaning of Christmas, was also appreciated by students and teachers.”
More than 20 staff members from JN Fund Managers visited the east Kingston educational institution, splitting up into teams, to talk with students and serve refreshments to the youngsters.
“It was a satisfying encounter for us; and I know that the students appreciated our efforts,” stated Danielle Shaw, Marketing Department, JN Fund Managers, who organised the activities.
Allman Town Primary, with its population of 667 students, has significantly improved its academic performance in recent years; and is working to close the gender performance gap of its students, by introducing new teaching methods.
“Our ultimate aim is to serve others in our community,” Ms. Shaw pointed out, explaining that JN Fund Managers adopted Allman Town Primary early in 2017; and helped to upgrade its bathrooms and water fountain, prior to the beginning of the new school year.
“We also invited students to participate with us in this year’s International Coastal Cleanup Day activities, which was a first both for the school and for us,” she informed.
Kayla Palmer, a Grade Two student, was among many students who acknowledged that, “The ice cream was lovely; but most of all, I enjoyed talking with the employees from JNFM.” And, Kamani Dunn, also from Grade Two, voiced his agreement, adding that, “This was a good day.”
The celebrations at Allman Town Primary were held on the last day of school for the Christmas Term, with several parents also present.
